Ribbon Cutting at Hottiez
_________________________ January 2008 Presidents Message Happy New Year! Your new 2008 Chamber is excited to be here and begin work on some exciting new programs for our members and their employees! First let me welcome back
Betty Lawrence from Western Title. Betty has
been on the board off and on for the past ten years, and will be holding the office of
Vice-President this year. She is the heart and soul of our annual Wine Tasting Fund
Raiser. She says to look forward to some good
changes there. Janine Robinson returns
to the board and will hold the office of Sec/Treasurer in 2008. Stephanie Wade from Second Street Seasonals, Bill
Sims from the The Board is a great
cross-section of retail, hospitality, financial, manufacturing a public sector support. We are looking forward to the input and direction
the new board will give to the Chamber. When
a business joins the Chamber, their employees also become members and can participate on
committees, attend events and seminars and network for your business! Honestly, our Business After Hours or
Mixers have been in need of some enthusiasm lately and thats one of the
things our new board wants to change. Did you know that you could send your employees to
represent your business at a mixer or luncheon? What
better way to stimulate enthusiasm than participation by new faces? With new faces, you get new ideas, suggestions and
input to help carry out the mission of the Chamberwhich is to be the catalysta
common vehicle through which business and professional people work together for the common
good of the business neighborhood and the community as a whole. Think seriously about
sending a new face or two to our next Mixer or Membership luncheon. Chamber Biz Tip ·
Attend the monthly
business luncheons and sit with someone you do NOT know. ·
Attend Business after
hour functions and mixers. ·
Exchange your business
card at all functions. ·
Follow-up your meeting
with someone new with a personal hand-written note and let them know you will refer
business to them! ·
Do business with other
Chamber members first! You've
heard it before--the Humboldt County Chamber of Commerce works to create a strong economy.
That's why we encourage shopping locally. We can't say it often enough or
loudly enough; Try shopping locally before you make the trip out of town and spend too
much on gas. These
local business owners are your neighbors and in most cases, also your customers.
They are working hard for their community. They are making this a better
place to live and raise a family. PLEASE:
